Expos drop two; McCarthy optioned to AAA

DDO (AP) - After winning five contests in June by a combined score of 61 to 3, the Expos dropped a pair on the weekend, to the Beers and the Tunesquad. The games saw veteran utility player Pat McCarthy get called up from AAA. "You know. We're a hard playing team. We play hard. We live hard," explained GM Doug Fletcher. "There are a few guys on this team who like to party really hard, and with it being a long weekend... well... let's just say I know a few guys were going to go AWOL and thought McCarthy would add some needed oomph to the lineup. Plus, I tried everyone else I knew, and even a few guys randomly on the street, and none of them were available." McCarthy was optioned down to AAA following Sunday's loss.

Pierre-Yves Rajotte fired a solid 6 innings against the Beers on Saturday night only to be foiled by a pair of infield errors, and the Beers exploiting a 2 person outfield. After the game, Rajotte was seen calmly sharing his favourite iced tea recipe with the home plate umpire. Sunday morning, jet lagged from the long trip from NDG to DDO, the Expos came out flat and gave no run support to starter Chris Kelly-Farrar, managing only one run against the Tunesquad's left handed starter.

The Expos are next in action on Thursday night against the Angels. It is battery-giveaway-night at Trudeau park.
